Would actually prefer Vlahovic for the right price, although they’re asking a lot and it’s risky. I can see potential in him to be a bully.

You want a bully? How about the next Uru striker gem Matias Arezo - nicknamed El Bufalo. Kid's crazy good and far too good for the Uruguayan league he's still playing in.

So we keep all these players we don't want and therefore don't sign new players we do want and then wonder why we are falling further behind each year. Football is ruthless.
Yes, football is ruthless. Doesn’t mean you kick 5-6 players, still under contract, to the side in a year when no one is able to sell fringe players. It’s just ridiculous.

So any player you sign is never an improvement until they’ve played a year for the club?
White has been at the club for a few weeks. Playing alongside Mari, who is 4/5th choice CB. White looked absolutely fine playing in a 2 for England.
What I'm saying is you cannot say a player improves your team until a period of time watching that player in your team.

You can say he "should" improve the team. But there are no guarantees in football.

Look at United and their signings. Di Maria, Falcao etc. On paper they were "improvements". However it didn't turn out that way.

Nobodies saying kick them out on the streets. But you can speak with their agent and say we will accept any half reasonable offer. Then agent can go and do their jobs.

Do you think we are in a position to say don't worry boys. Just sit on the bench and pick up your wages. We will keep you right. Would you like another few tickets for family and friends to watch the matches?

Think we'll get Ødegaard and a keeper and that will be that.

Just no time to do the exits and someone like Lauraro.

Pretty underwhelming. Specially the exits.

But I'll guess we'll hear all about how the owners were really backing everyone this summer.

As usual, I don't think they really care.
Underwhelming? If we get in an upgrade on Leno we are already title contenders. That's how ****e he is in my eyes.

With Ødegaard and a quality GK in i will have my hopes up again.

Literally 4 of the worst players in our squad, 4 players we can’t sell, 4 players who are blocking progression are HIS signings.

Runarsson. Cedric. Mari. Willian.

He can’t keep getting away with it. 😤

I don't think Runnarson Cedric or Mari are blocking our progression. All three are on relatively low wages and are clearly backups.

It's older first teamers on big wages that are clogging up the works and preventing us from bringing in more first teamers - Laca, Xhaka, Kola Bellerin, Willian.

If we shift Laca and Bellerin i can see us bringing in replacements. Also means that extending Xhaka with a pay rise is an absolutely brain dead decision. Willian is definitely on him.

The problem my friend is wages. Premier league clubs pay much higher wages on average than other leagues. Plus Arsenal have had this terrible socialist wage policy for a decade.

The players are employees, they don't want to go somewhere else to earn half the pay. And fair enough, not their fault our management is a shambles. Only solution is to pay their salary to play somewhere else, which is barely a solution in itself.

There's so many scenarios for this window now.

I think the obvious definite deals are Ødegaard and Ramsdale.

After that it's all about the dominos.

1) Xhaka still hasn't signed his new deal, the door could still be open.
2) Trippier may go to United. Which opens a door up for a Bellerin to join Atletico, I can see this happening. Its the only way Bellerin ends up out the door.
3) The Auba and Laca situation could lead to us getting a forward in the final week.

So many twists and turns to come.

It's interesting that the names you mentioned in the first group are recent acquisitions while the second group is mostly an older group of ours. A small sign that we are heading in a better direction, Willian aside we haven't been giving big money to busts as much recently. Hope we don't repeat that mistake with Xhaka though.

I’m usually not too impressed by highlight comps and especially those including U23 or lesser leagues but have to say he really looks a gem. Very young as well.

@EDU - now’s the time to show you have some South American connections. Time to go all out Raul and pull out snow, cigars hookers and picanha and get the business done.

Absolutely, I know it's a couple of years out of date but the disparity is probably even wider now after Covid.

Premier League 2.58 times the average wage of Ligue One
Premier League 2.04 times the average wage of Serie A
Premier League 2.04 times the average wage of Bundesliga
Premier League 1.71 times the average wage of La Liga

I'm as frustrated as the next man but it is pretty clear why we can't shift our overpaid deadwood. It would have been hard pre Covid, now near impossible.

Arsenal Quotes

What is unbelievable is that I am in a position where people reproach me for making a profit. The people who lose money – nobody says a word.
