Exactly the game is rigged. A bit like how the house always wins in the casino

But I was NOT expecting our game to be the biggest shock of the weekend after seeing the Liverpool result! 🤣
Crystal Palace beating Liverpool at Anfield is still the biggest shock of the weekend. Aston Villa are 4th, Palace are 14th.

Lol, be real. If we had ended this season with say an FA cup, it wouldn't have made any difference to you or anyone else. Liverpool won a League Cup and they still see their season as a failure if they don't win anything else. A season winning only an FA Cup or League Cup is only considered success if you are a team who haven't won anything at all in decades like Sp**s.

Setting impossible standards of perfection and then screaming bottlers when we inevitably don't live up to them is stupid.

FA Cup is important. League Cup, not so much.

Look at the history of this club, especially under Wenger, and the FA cup

I have been begging for an FA cup win since last summer, would have loved it.

If we had the exact same season I think we will have (finish 2nd in the league pushing City, quarters of the Champions League getting over that last 16 block) and added our record 15th FA cup I would have been very happy.

Would have kept the progress going from last season and this squad what it feels like to win something together, that's something we really miss...felt that would have really set us up well next season for the Prem.

4 years without anything is killing me, and the longer that drought goes the harder it is to get over 😭

I must admit I didn't expect Arsenal to destroy my hopes so quickly. After the great result in the Liverpool Palace game I was sure we'd tale advantage. But no. It's really disappointing. I expect Man City to not drop any points now, they just have too much resources to really compete with over a whole season.

We look for scape goats for our disappointments. It's natural to an extent. But we should not confuse a personal emotional need, valid as it may be, for wisdom. Somebody has to explain to me how anyone else would have managed as well as Arteta has. Even Pep walked into an already established superpower.
I think the majority here appreciate what he's done but the fact that our failings are mostly self inflicted and easily avoidable is what is most disappointing. There was no need for him to tinker with the lineup today. The subs were wrong, or too late. We should not be more fatigued at home with 2 days extra rest.

Arteta has done very well thus far. There's no question about that. But we have to be very careful in not exaggerating things.

This is one of our best seasons under Arteta and yet not only did Aston Villa beat us at home, but they're only 8 points behind us. Unai Emery has a worse player in almost every position (except striker) than Arsenal and yet he's done a *better* job than Arteta in the PL.

If Emery was backed as well as Arteta has been, we might have achieved a lot more. That's the reality. Emery wasn't given a chance. But Arteta was.

So let's not act like Arteta is a unicorn. Yes, Arteta has done a remarkable job, there's no question about that. But he was also given remarkable (actually unprecedented) backing.

This is one match, one which we should have won if we were ruthless enough, just as we should have won the one at Villa that we squandered with a lot of poor final balls.

Villa is a good squad. Arsenal have been in for Tielemans, Luiz and Diaby at various times based on reports. Watkins is very good, as is Bailey on his day. I think this new Brazilian addition at CB is very good having watched him a few times. It's true that they don't have an Ødegaard, a Saka or a Saliba, but they are still a good team capable of results against anybody.

Good as he is, Unai has won 1 league title in his career - and that with an already stacked PSG funded by Qataris. Arteta may not be a unicorn -- and I never claimed him to be -- but Emery was also not the solution at the time for Arsenal. The club had to be rebuilt from the ground up, and that is not Unai's strength. He's good at tweaking things.

Tactically, on a game day, Unai is strong. That's why he is good in cup competitions. Institutionally, not so much. Arteta still has more to show for his first year at Arsenal than Unai.

It's been 20 years since we last lifted the title...20 f*cking years!!!!

And with each passing year, I start believing my disheartening claim that we would eclipse Liverpool in their wait for a title.

To be honest, it'll be a big surprise if we actually win it I didn't fancy us winning the league at all this season.

Was much more gutted last season, we really should have won it

How did Arteta outperform Unai's first year?

Emery was backed with PSG and he ended up losing the title to Monaco (1 league loss in between 7 other titles for psg)

Now that's real bottling.

Also only 8 points but we have a game in hand. I expect the point gap to be 13-15 points by the end which is isn't really small tbh.

Also classic bottling leading Barca 4-0 in first leg in CL and then losing return leg 5-1. Emery while being good manager will never be the one to challenge for titles or winning CL. If we are satisfy with 4th to 6th and Europa run every season then fair enough.

Would you include FA or League cups? I have a feeling we may be doing better on those fronts next year if the talent in the academy matures enough. There is a lot of potential there. We need to get past those early stages with that talent. We have not been doing that because our bench is not deep enough and we don't care enough about them to risk it.

IMO, the club's sights are set higher, but PL and Champion's league championships are just not as easy with Man City around. They are just a different beast from the older Man U and even Chelsea. I'm not sure there is any coach out there who can get around them, because the difference is institutional. That's what I like about Arteta - he's about building the capacity in the club to compete long term.

Yeah any trophy. Realistically you wouldn’t sack a manager who title challenges until the end and also wins silverware.

So the title pressure wasn't on in the last weeks?

Why it's this matchday title pressure, but the last matchdays it wasn't? It's a title race since weeks and we looked very stable and focussed in the last months.

I still think there is a big difference in facing 7 title matches mental wise.

It's funny because if youd be just following twitter the whole time you'd have thought it was a title race between just Arsenal and Liverpool. (Tho this might just be because City isn't represented to even a fraction of those two fantasies).

It's sort of been like "a well City can't just keep winning the titles", well it turns out they can.

Again, the schedule might be too much. The players already looked gassed in the 2nd half yesterday and we play in Munich on wednesday lol.

It's becoming a pathetic league really, City has won the league from 17/18 onwards six out of seven times. And they're favourites to win it again, along with the FA Cup and Champions League. For the second time in a row.

I highly doubt the 115 charges will stick. We'll have to wait out Pep unfortunately and hope they get someone like Ten Hag next.
