22/23 Season Review

Erlis

Only Came To See Granit Xhaka

Country: Kosova
Player of The Season: Xhaka
Young Player of The Season: Saka, Saliba, Martinelli, Gabriel, White
Goal of The Season: Xhakas goal against Tottenham (I think it was a decisive moment and a great indicator for the entire season)
Signing of The Season: Jesus
Most Improved: Ødegaard
Biggest Disappointment (player): None or maybe Zinchenko a few times
Lowest Point of The Season: Loss to Brighton
Best Team Performance: There are many, cannot have only one.
Best Individual Performance: Xhaka in the Arsenal win against West Ham 3:1
Favourite Moment: When Xhaka and the fans were giving admiration and love to one another (Tottenham match)

I have to admire the dedication to the cult of Xhaka here

Partey - in the same game - scores this absolute banger to put you up 1-0 against your biggest rivals:

But nah, Xhaka's goal after Sp**s went down to 10 men to make it 3-1 is the real moment

I wish I could find someone to love me like Erlis and BergMan loves Xhaka.

Player of The Season: Ødegaard, expect him to be our best player in the CL next season as well.

Young Player of The Season: Saliba, world class.

Goal of The Season: Riess.

Signing of The Season: Zinchenko (we didn’t really miss a beat without GJ, but we are a lot worse without Zinny).

Most Improved: Gabriel

Biggest Disappointment (player): Tomi/ESR.

Lowest Point of The Season: Southampton, league was gone after that.

Best Team Performance: First 40mins at Anfield…

Best Individual Performance: Saka vs Man Utd.

Favourite Moment: Riess.

Gosh, why don't you answer the questions but deal with my answers?
Sure:

Player of The Season: Ødegaard
Young Player of The Season: Saka
Goal of The Season: Partey vs. Sp**s
Signing of The Season: Zinchenko because of his fit in the tactical setup, Jesus if we're talking pure value for money.
Most Improved: Xhaka
Biggest Disappointment (player): Partey.
Lowest Point of The Season: Partey actually playing.
Best Team Performance: 2-0 win away at Newcastle, given the narrative in the build up and the stakes at play for both clubs.
Best Individual Performance: Jesus at home vs Leicester in a 4-2 win. 2 goals, 2 assists, was completely unplayable, glided around every defender.
Favourite Moment: Rice mugging Partey after having to listen to how awful and overrated Rice is for months  From an Arsenal perspective, obviously the Nelson goal.

Player of the Season: Ode
Young Player of the Season: Saliba
Goal of the Season: Reiss vs Bournemouth
Signing of the Season: Jesus
Most Improved: The younger Gabriels, Martinelli and Magalhaes
Biggest Disappointment: Vieira by a mile
Lowest Point: Walcott making it 2-0. I knew the title was done for sure then.
Best Team Performance: First match against Leicester. Could have scored 8 that day.
Best Individual Performance: Ramsdale vs Liverpool
Favorite Moment: Reiss vs Bournemouth

Player of The Season: Ødegaard (Saka also deserving and had the numbers, but I felt Ode controlled things more and took on Captain's role.)
Young Player of The Season: Saliba (Saka is too experienced to count as young anymore!)
Goal of The Season: Saka v Man U (quality - he had no right to score from there in a big game)
Signing of The Season: Trossard (from nowhere -- kept the season alive at a key moment)
Most Improved: Xhaka (I didn't anticipate him in this role and he excelled at it.)
Biggest Disappointment (player): ESR (I didn't have a lot of expectation for Viera)
Lowest Point of The Season: Loss to Brighton (just terrible)
Best Team Performance: Newcastle away (trying to make sense of this and v Brighton breaks my brain)
Best Individual Performance: Ramsdale @ Liverpool.
Favourite Moment: Nketiah v Man U (Reiss is close behind, but it's Man U!)

Honestly, I don't think any of this season happens without Saka, but it also doesn't happen if Saka is playing without Jesus or Zinchenko or Ødegaard or Saliba. That's the sign of a good team, but makes it hard to pick these.

I see I forgot to add as my Young Player of the Season Ramsdale as well. They were all great and I find it unfair to omit him from the rest of the group.

Hi guys A_M Iniesta here.
Whats the general consensus in the forum on how the season ended?

I apologize in advance for not adhering to the posts format.

I was emotionally invested we were gonna win then all THAT happened. We wasted the gap and opportunity.

What will it take to win next year presumably, be as honest as possible?

Ps , Martinelli is amazing

Don't think we'll come this close again the next few seasons. Chelsea and Pool will be much better, so staying in top four consistently will be a big battle already.

Think you're underestimating the size of the rebuild required at Pool and the clusterfuck that is the Chelsea squad tbh.
