Would be the most Sp**s thing to win vs City

what the fans want or not, players and manager surely have CL clauses and bonusses in their contracts. Sure all of them will kiss the badge and fight for the fans in the derby. But you think a bunch of pro footballers from all over the world and all backgrounds will play against their own financial interests?

Most of them support Arsenal anyway.

No one was trying to stop White from blocking the goalkeeper, it only happened in the 2nd half. They had two weeks to get ready.

This guy doesn't want a set-piece coach, even though he admits that Arsenal "does the details well".
Postecolgou’s view, as he explained in March, is that he does not want to “separate set-pieces from everything else we do”. He has instead split the role between two coaches, Mile Jedinak and Ryan Mason.

Has it worked? Well, the facts do not paint a pretty picture. In the Premier League this season, they have scored 11 goals from set-pieces and conceded 14. Arsenal, on the other hand, have scored 22 goals from set-pieces and conceded six. Between the two teams, that is a swing of 19 goals over the course of a season.

Postecoglou was asked again, after this loss, about his team’s difficulties at defensive set pieces. “If I thought fixing defensive set pieces was the answer to us bridging the gap then I would put all of my time and effort into that,” he said. “But that is not where we’re at.”

To which the obvious riposte is: well, if Postecoglou had a set piece specialist on his staff, then he would not need to put any additional time or effort into it. That, evidently, would be the job of the expert.

...

Earlier, in an attempt to get under Vicario’s skin moments before Hojbjerg’s own goal, White had attempted to undo the goalkeeper’s glove. Other teams in recent months have worked hard to remove White from the six-yard box. Sp**s, to their cost, did not. “Our defensive set piece for those two [goals] were very poor,” Postecoglou admitted.

The Australian later added, tellingly: “We are still not absolutely laser-focused on the details, the small things that get you from where we are to become a team that contends. Credit to Arsenal, they are there now. They are a team that does deal with the details well, and we don’t.”

It came apparent to most of us watching that set pieces was a gross oversight from Ange, but yeah he's basically admitted he doesn't care enough about it which is a bit amateur.

He's only just got there though, so could be a case of too much to do in his first season.

Honestly it's crazy how much Ange gets away with.

Doesn't bother with coaching set pieces properly, pays very little attention to nullifying the opposition generally.

If you're facing an opposition that is renowned for their skill at set pieces and you don't work properly on stopping that, you're negligent.

At a serious club he would be getting pulled up massively by the fans / media but I guess at Sp**s the bar is pretty low.

Either it's refs fault or opposition didn't bend over. According to many fans they were dominant and just terribly let down by officials and luck.

Let's just say I'm happy for them to stay delusional and proud of their Angeball wonder tactics :D

It bordered on the ridiculous yesterday. Most teams have identified the Ben White blocking the goalkeeper move by now. Sp**s just didn't seem have caught on to that one at all. That is down to coaching.

If Raya hadn't made the mistake, we would have pumped another couple of goals into them. Our right side with Saka, Martin and White was really starting to cook. They got lucky

PL coaches and analysts are the smartest in the world, tactics need to evolve or you get worked out and quick. Ange is refusing to adapt, as 'that is who he is (mate)'. Hence why his ideas worked early on when they led the table, but now they will finish 5th at best. He cannot be this naive next season otherwise he will be sacked - some of the Sp**s' fanbase are already turning.

Ange remind me kinda of Rodgers and if he not pay attention to defending details he won't last of course Sp**s level won't allow him to attract the best defenders available Romero is mid VDV is good but exposed because of high line his fullbacks more attacking minded than defensive they conceded 52 goals this season on pace of conceding 60 goals in league this is not good enough for a team who fighting for 4th.

They celebrated winning the Audi Cup as if it were an actual honour. If that's not rock bottom, I shudder to think what is?

Arsenal Quotes

Arsenal was firmly embedded in the local community and had a very solid, working-class foundations. The fans espoused the club's values. This visceral attachment, from childhood, to a club and a team is something I have never seen anywhere else with such fervour. Every fan's first match at Highbury was like a baptism.
