Liverpool finished behind this lot with 97 and 92 points. 89 isn’t all that this City team is just different gravy. We saw Chelsea under Mourinho walk the league when he first came in with 2 90+ point seasons and this City side is Chelsea on steroids while Pep is Mourinho without meltdowns. The consistency they have is unprecedented.
Lol it's easy to say 89 isn't all that but I think it would be the highest points total we have ever achieved bar the invincibles?
It wins titles in normal eras.

Liverpool under Klopp 100% deserve more titles.

Arsène beat a self sustaining club in Man U to win titles, Same for George Graham before up against Liverpool.

Arteta simply does not have that opportunity.

Think about this carefully.
What do Abramovichs Chelski & UAE Man City have in common🤔

They are not normal clubs.

They have both destroyed the genuine integrity of the game by corrupting the league with dirty money.

Sky & the media bought into it as more money meant bigger transfers & players.

It became much less about sport as soon as Abramovich pitched up at Chelsea.

You're absolutely correct about Chelsea & Man City. No argument there.

But I disagree with you on the 89 points. Even though you're right that it would "be the highest points total we have ever achieved bar the invincibles", we have also spent the highest amounts ever in the history of the club in the transfer market. Arteta spent 600m GBP since he joined. If you take that into account, then we have significantly underachieved.

We also have to take into account that Arteta practically only focused on the PL Title, and has not had any success (or even close to it) in any other competition. So, even though he's built an incredible side, he literally has nothing to show for it (because that 2019 team which won the FA Cup was pre-spending & a totally different team, in fact he replaced literally everyone in that squad except Saka).

So if he's only focusing on the PL, and with the budget he's been given, we shouldn't be losing to Aston Villa both home & away or losing to Fulham away and drawing with Fulham at home or getting thrashed by West Ham at home. I'm sorry, but that absolutely shouldn't be happening.

If he had a Europa League Title, an FA cup (or a few of them) and a Carabao cup in the bag, then you could make an argument about how Arteta has built an incredibly successful side that is unlucky to come against doped-up City in the PL that is losing out on the PL title on 89 points. That would be a solid argument.

But at the moment, Arteta has basically not managed to win anything with this side he has built (aside from the community shields). So this "oh poor us, we tried with 89 points and came up short against a cheating City" doesn't really wash. You can't use that excuse. You really cannot.

It's true that Liverpool came up short with 97 points etc. but they were actually fighting on ALL fronts practically every season - and the ONLY season where they solely focused on the PL title - they actually won it! They were picking up Carabao cups, FA cup, CL etc. along the way. They were genuinely successful.

So I genuinely thought Arteta would operate at the same level as Klopp but the truth is, he's quickly running out of time to prove this. If he fails to win anything this season, then realistically we can only give him 1 more season before we have switch to another manager.

But how can Arsenal win against City’s unlimited budget it’s simply not fair.
🤣That's just since Klopp. Shows how amazing Klopp has done tbf.
Why don't you post the spend since you were taken over by a corrupt Country🤔

Let's be honest you would struggle to be half way in the Prem & would have never got near a title if the UAE hadn't bankrolled you.

Don't forget the off the books payments as well please bro.

Ur success & Chelsea under Abramovich has not been achieved naturally.

No doubt you have an absolutely wonderful team & manager

Winning by corruption though is pretty hollow.

These numbers are kinda bullshit really, they only take into account the transfer fee disclosed, they don't include the agent fees or salary offered to the players signed.

For example haarland was a 56m fee, but if you think city only paid that you're mental.

Terry on the football terrace YouTube, breaks it down well, you actually need to go via the clubs trading accounts with deloite and when you do, Liverpools spending in the klopp era is almost identical to pep

Now do gross spend ;)

Its pretty cool when your accounting team can get prices like 40m and 20m for academy players like Cole Palmer and Lavia innit.

And I wonder how those sales came about too..... with the 115 hanging around like a foul smell, you wonder if your accounting is actually legitimate ;)

The money we spent was of course how we became the team challenging for titles. more the point is the fact we are so dominant since 2018 isn’t the money it’s because how insane of a manager Pep is

I know city fans tend not to be the brightest but you do understand how “net” spend works right?

It’s not like money spent on players before some arbitrary cut off vanishes into the ether. With intelligent squad management (which City to their credit have exemplified) that initial investment can keep getting re-invested into the squad. The other factor that in conjunction keeps your net investment relatively low is that you managed to assemble a world class squad before the stratospheric inflation of the last few years, so the market value of your players surpasses their book value.

My hope is that we can start finding ourselves within this sort of virtuous cycle soon.

Seeing west ham and Sp**s today, actually feel Fulham is the best chance now lol

They've always been our best chance at winning the league.

West Ham probably next because they can double down defensively, but its Fulham who are the ones who can get a win or draw for us.

But of course, we have to win at Old Trafford, and I do think we will.
