Pre season I had a bet with one of the preeminent Maddison / Buendia nuthuggers on here, Mr Gdeep regarding Ødegaard.

The bet was would he get 15 PL g/a this season.

18 games in and he's already sat at 13 g/a.

Safe to say I'm going to win this bet.....very comfortably.

Was scared to shoot and would often go missing when all he used to wear was club gear and adidas stuff.

Starts putting good fits with a splash of designer and is now banging in goals from outside the box. A-M stay not being ready to accept my drip theory though.

Maddison has had the Leicester fans on him for being a passenger in far too many games when he doesn’t score. Can’t get away with that when you’re at a big club.
Not really a problem when he’s scoring/assisting in almost every game though is it?

Ødegaard is cooking but I don’t really ageee with this criticism of Maddison if the games where he doesn’t produce are few and far between.

Apples and Oranges comparison like you said anyway. One’s an end product specialist while the other is pulling strings firstly but also coming through with the end product.

It can lead to problems though. Bruno Fernandes was scoring and assisting at incredible rate but his overall game was poor and United struggled. Attacking midfielders are midfielders by trait. They have to be involved in build-up play and recycle possession at times.

Weren’t they doing pretty well until Ronaldo arrived and everything went to ****. Pretty sure they finished 2nd in the league with Bruno carrying them?

Nah he had been lowkey sh*t for a while before Ronaldo and masking it with pens and stuff, people were onto him. His wild hopeful balls and the way he would cheaply concede possession he would never start in this version of Arsenal

Has fixed up since ETH though, end product is back and his all round play has tidied up a bit too. He's been reigned in a bit for the better.

Bruno was also getting an insane amount of penalties awarded to him too.

It is indeed true that numbers can lie. Hell, part of the criticism towards Ødegaard was that he never delivered numbers. That was even though it was very obvious he was an important part of the teams he did well in (Sociedad, Vitesse). Biggest strength with Ødegaard is that even when he is "invisible" he lays down hard work and contributes in all areas of the pitch.

Fair enough but Maddison doesn’t spam like Bruno did.

I remember during that Bruno run telling my United fan friends about xG and how what he’s doing isn’t sustainable. He kept it up for so long that I got mocked HEAVY in the GC.

Took like two years but they eventually came back and told me I was right, one of the greatest Ws of my life.

Flashbacks of Willian getting three assists on his debut then one more for the rest of the season.

If your mentioning this bet with a destitute Ladbrokes reject ruins Ode's form I will find you and **** your **** up g.

The gambling addiction therapy is mandated by the courts since your IPL gambling syndicate / match fixing ring was busted by the feds.

You'll be back gambling.

Best advanced midfielder in the league at the moment. One of the main reasons we’ve improved so much. He’s already surpassed last season’s tallies for both goal involvements (13) and goals (8). His 2021-22 figures were 7 goals and 5 assists in 40 appearances.

Sorry to correct but I think you meant to write "best player bar none in the league full stop" lol.

That's what I think he is currently anyway.

I believe he is entering his prime before our eyes. Consistently adding goals to his game and stepping up in big games were the last pieces to the puzzle.

Arsenal Quotes

When I arrived, an Arsenal share was worth £800; it subsequently rose continuously in value and by the time I left it stood at £17,000.
